This course is designed to give teachers an understanding of the philosophy behind development and use of WebQuests at any educational level, K thru post-secondary, and to develop a WebQuest.  The course culminates with participants creating a working standards-based WebQuest that will be submitted to the instructor.

WebQuest Publication would also be a good follow-up course to EDU 508ZI, All About WebQuests which covers the content and classroom usage of WebQuests.

What is a WebQuest?

If you are unfamiliar with WebQuests, the following definition is from the official WebQuest page at http://webquest.sdsu.edu/ where you may also view existing WebQuests.  "A WebQuest is an inquiry-oriented activity in which most or all of the information used by learners is drawn from the Web.  WebQuests are designed to use learners' time well, to focus on using information rather than looking for it, and to support learners' thinking at the levels of analysis, synthesis and evaluation."

Used by teachers the world over, WebQuests are valued as a highly efficient student-driven learning tool that is applicable to any grade level and any subject.  The teacher becomes a true learning facilitator, guiding students through their quest for information and understanding of the WebQuest topic.
