  • Software to create web pages or easily accessed online web development/hosting sites.  You are responsible in obtaining software or online services needed to complete the course and learning specific use of the software.  You may use online web sites or any school provided web tools such as School Loop that are designed to allow creation of web pages.  Microsoft Word can even be used to create web pages.
  • Online sites such as Google Page Creator, Yahoo GeoCities or Lycos Tripod allow you to easily create web pages AND to run them on their servers with no or little charge.  There are many options to allow you successful website creation!  A list of freeware and free sites, shareware and commercial software that you can assist with the course will be available once students have enrolled.
  • Hardware - Any PC or Mac will be fine.  A CD burner would be needed if you plan on mailing your project to the instructor on a CD.  Other options on how to submit your final project via posting online or by email are available.
  • Internet access and an e-mail account.

The course will cover basic web authoring, structure and design, focusing primarily on educational web page design and content.

This course is not designed to teach HTML code, Java, php or CGI scripting, although students are certainly welcome to use any design tools to create their web pages.

If you wish to have a book to assist with your understanding and creation of web pages, the inexpensive and easy to understand Dummies series books, including Creating Web Pages for Dummies (available at Amazon.com) is suggested.
